The first part of the Recap Here
Last time I left off... We had just arrived in Newport Oregon for the night.
Road Trip Day 3. Thurs. Sept 2, 2010
722KM/448 miles Down - 969KM/604 miles to go
Nix rides Shotgun.
We woke up early, all got ready, packed up the car. checked out of our hotel, grabbed a quick bite at subway, then we were off, heading South again down the 101 towards San Francisco. We weren't sure were we'd stay the night again, I would just drive until it would almost be dark. All we knew is that we'd make it over the California border this day.
The only place I wanted to do a quick stop in was Winchester Bay, Oregon, for the so VERY obvious reason. so that was our Scheduled next stop.
However, Driving on the coast in the late morning was something out of a Fantasy movie or book. The way the ocean mist came and hoovered in the forest, as the sun shone down making it all sparkly.
i felt like we were in some sort of LOTR-esque world.

We stopped briefly at a little off road view point and took a couple photos just as we entered the Siuslaw National Forest
We then Continued south, To Winchester Bay Oregon, We had to make a stop there, because well, its Winchester Bay. LOL.
There wasn't much there, except The Dunes. where you can rent Carts and go zooming around the Sand Dunes. That was my original plan, to stay there the night, and go duning and whatnot, but we changed our plans, to arrive in San Fransico a day earlier.
So we just made a quick stop there at a shop, and I bought a awesome T-shirt.
From Winchester Bay, we drove straight until we got to the California border, Cross the border and made another quick stop in Crescent City
it was a gorgeous day, and we again quickly to take a couple photos before we left Crescent City.
All the while during the driving we'd play random games (between the singing and the stopping and the just chill relaxing)
The one we played the most was the A.B.C Game.
Basically one of us would chose a category i.e Celebrity names, Anything Supernatural, Songs, Bands, Countries, Cities etc etc.
Then we'd have to go though the whole alphabet and names something that starts with each letter from each category. It was a fricken Blast!
We'd play a couple rounds of that each day.
Of course I couldn't play these games. but in the back seat, Melissa and Chris played cards. Chris taught Mel some game.. i dunno what it was, but she kept kicking his ass. LOL
We were now driving through the Redwood National State Park, which was absolutely gorgeous! The trees were the biggest I've ever seen in my life. (well maybe.. there were some pretty huge ones in Stanley Park in Vancouver...) We didn't stop anytime during the park though, so we just got a few photos as we drove.
I think I would love to go camping down there some time. That would be really fun, and really pretty.
We stopped for the night in a little TINY town called Gaberville just off the highway.
Road Trip Day 4. Friday Sept 3,2010
1361KM/845 miles Down - 329KM/204 miles to go.
Tomorrow we get to San Francisco!
